Tanishaa Mukerji's Mahakumbh Experience Sparks Controversy – “The Water is Too Dirty...!”

Bollywood Celebs at Mahakumbh – But Not Everyone Takes the Holy Dip.!

Mahakumbh a sacred event that happens once in years is witnessing an overwhelming crowd this time. Devotees and celebrities alike are flocking to the holy site immersing themselves in the sacred Ganges for spiritual purification. Among them is Bollywood actress “Tanishaa Mukerji” who visited Mahakumbh with friends.

But her visit took a controversial turn when she made an unexpected remark about the holy river’s water.

What Did Tanishaa Say That Sparked a Controversy.?

Tanishaa posted snippets from her 'Mahakumbh journey on social media' showing her dressed in a saffron saree while stepping into the river. She gracefully posed with her flowing saree, splashing water playfully and holding hands with friends.

However the controversy erupted when a photographer requested her to take a full dip in the river. She ‘Hesitated and Remarked’

“The water is too dirty, one dip is enough.”

This statement quickly spread across social media, drawing a wave of ‘negative reactions’.

Social Media Backlash – “Are You Here for Photos or Faith.?”

As soon as her comment surfaced ‘social media users criticised her’ for not respecting the religious significance of the event. Some questioned whether she had come for a ‘photo-op’ rather than for spiritual cleansing. Others accused her of ‘mocking traditions’.

Netizens React

“If you don’t want to follow the rituals, why come at all.?”

“Mahakumbh is about devotion not fashion photography.”

“People walk barefoot for hours and you complain about water.?”

The backlash highlights the ongoing debate about ‘celebrity presence in religious events’ - are they truly devoted or just making an appearance for publicity.?

Poonam Pandey Also Faced Criticism at Mahakumbh

Interestingly Tanishaa Mukerji is not the only one facing backlash. Poonam Pandey also made headlines for her Mahakumbh dip. Dressed in a simple ‘White Kurti’, she took a ‘holy plunge at Triveni Sangam’ and later shared her experience.

“I feel like all my sins have been washed away,” she expressed.

Despite her spiritual sentiment, she too received “mixed reactions online”. Some supported her devotion, while others questioned her intentions.

Faith or Just a Show.? The Celebrity Debate Continues.

With Mahakumbh drawing massive attention, Bollywood celebs participating in the event are under constant scrutiny. While some genuinely embrace the tradition, others find themselves caught in controversy.

As discussions rage on, one question remains – “Is faith becoming a spectacle for some or are these reactions an overreaction to personal choices?”
