Massive Fire in Bangladesh....! Two Lives Lost in Chattogram Tragedy.

A massive fire erupted in a residential area in Chattogram’s Kotwali region leading to the tragic deaths of two individuals. The fire which started early in the morning engulfed a five-room house leaving behind destruction worth millions. Firefighters managed to control the blaze after a three-hour battle.


The Incident

The fire broke out at 6:40 AM in the Zafar Saudagar Colony located near Boluardighi’s western side in Chattogram, Bangladesh. Witnesses reported seeing flames rapidly spreading through the house prompting an immediate response from residents and emergency services.


Firefighting & Rescue Efforts

Upon receiving the distress call four fire engines from two stations rushed to the scene. The firefighters battled the raging flames for nearly three hours finally bringing the fire under control by 9:00 AM. During the operation they managed to rescue five individuals trapped inside the burning structure.


Casualties & Injuries

Despite the rescue efforts two victims succumbed to the fire while undergoing treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH). The deceased were identified as

- Md. Ilyas (50)

- Parvin Akhter (45)

Three other individuals suffered severe respiratory complications due to smoke inhalation and were admitted to the hospital’s Burn & Plastic Surgery Unit. The injured include

- Md. Faisal (19)

- Md. Sohan (19)

- Shahina Akhter (23)


Estimated Losses

According to Fire Service Assistant Director Abdul Malek, the blaze caused an estimated loss of BDT 1.5 million while firefighters managed to save goods worth BDT 3.5 million.


Medical Update

Dr. Rafiqul Uddin Ahmed head of CMCH’s Burn & Plastic Surgery Unit stated that the injured did not suffer direct burns but their lungs were severely affected by toxic smoke inhalation. The survivors remain under critical observation.

What Caused the Fire.?

The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined. However initial reports suggest it may have been due to an electrical short circuit or a cooking gas leak. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause.


This tragic incident highlights the need for fire safety awareness in residential areas. Officials urge residents to ensure proper electrical wiring, fire extinguishers and emergency exits to prevent such disasters.
