A shocking incident of Eve-teasing on Saraswati Puja has surfaced in Howrah, where a young girl was harassed outside a girls' school. When her father protested he was brutally attacked by three youths leaving him injured. Locals managed to capture two of the culprits and handed them over to the police, while the third suspect is on the run. The incident has sparked outrage in the area.

Rising Concerns Over Eve-Teasing During Festivals

Unfortunately incidents of harassment during Saraswati Puja are not new. Similar cases have been reported in previous years, raising concerns over women's safety during festivals.

- In 2023 a Madhyamik student in Malda faced harassment while attending a Saraswati Puja event. When her brother intervened, he was attacked by the perpetrators.

- Reports also suggested that female family members were assaulted in the same incident.

How the Incident Unfolded in Howrah

The recent case occurred in Namatola, Howrah, where a schoolgirl was harassed by a group of local youths while she was attending Saraswati Puja celebrations.

- The miscreants made indecent gestures and inappropriate comments towards the girl.

- When her father confronted them, they attacked him, injuring his head.

- Locals intervened and caught two of the accused, handing them over to the police.

- The third suspect managed to escape and a police search is underway to nab him.
