A tragic incident in Odisha has shocked the nation where a 14 year old boy lost his life over a mere delay in serving chow mein. The brutal assault took place in Govindpur village, Jajpur after a heated argument at a roadside food stall. The teenager identified as Shantanu Das was mercilessly beaten leading to his death after a week in the hospital.

The horrific event unfolded on February 9th when Shantanu’s father Shukdev Das visited a local food stall owned by Anil Kumar Mallick to buy chow mein. However after waiting for 30 minutes without receiving his order Shukdev inquired about the delay. Instead of an explanation an altercation broke out and the shop owner physically assaulted him.

Hearing the commotion Shantanu rushed to defend his father questioning the shopkeeper’s actions. This angered local BJD leader Kamal Mallick who along with his associates launched a violent attack on the teenager. Reports suggest that they used iron rods to beat the boy mercilessly leaving him critically injured.

Severe Injuries & Death

Following the brutal assault locals rushed the father and son to Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital. As Shantanu’s condition worsened he was shifted to a private hospital in Cuttack where he succumbed to his injuries after battling for a week.

After Shukdev Das filed a complaint police arrested BJD leader Kamal Mallick from a hideout. However several other accused remain absconding. The investigation is ongoing and authorities are under pressure to take strict action against all involved.
