A major accident was reported on the NJP-Chennai Express near Balasore, Odisha, on 22nd February The train derailed after the engine struck an electric pole close to Sabira station. Fortunately no casualties have been reported so far according to South Eastern Railway PRO Omprakash Charan.

The incident occurred when the train, traveling from New Jalpaiguri (NJP) to Chennai suddenly derailed. Sources from the railway department stated that the engine went off track after colliding with an electric pole. Several coaches attached to the engine also veered off the tracks.
