Just before Diwali 2025, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced zero-fee biometric updates (MBU-1 & MBU-2) for all children aged 5–17 years. This year-long waiver (effective from 1 October 2025) benefits over 6 crore kids, ensuring seamless use of Aadhaar for school admissions, exam registrations, scholarships and direct benefit transfers without any cost hurdle.
