Job Scam Busted in Dum Dum – Police Arrest 18 for Cyber Fraud.

A cyber fraud ring operating in Dum Dum has been caught duping people with fake job offers. The scammers allegedly extracted lakhs of rupees from job seekers. Following a complaint from a victim the police conducted a raid leading to the arrest of 18 individuals.


How the Scam Was Busted

The police from East Medinipur district raided a house in Motilal Colony, Dum Dum after a complaint was filed by a woman who lost Rs 5 lakh to the fraudsters. Investigations led them to a fake call center that was running a well-organised job scam.


Police Investigation & Arrests

Earlier a case was registered in Panskura Police Station against job fraud. The investigation led to the arrest of one suspect in Uttarpara. Under interrogation he revealed details about the fake call center in Dum Dum prompting the police to take action.


How Much Money Was Stolen.?

The cyber criminals reportedly scammed lakhs of rupees from multiple victims. One woman alone lost Rs 5 lakh. The gang targeted job seekers with lucrative offers demanding upfront payments in the name of processing fees.

 

Mastermind Caught While Paying Salaries

According to sources the mastermind behind the scam visited the call center in the evening to pay salaries to the employees. Police acting on this tip-off raided the location and arrested 18 individuals including the owner of the scam operation.

Other Shocking Revelations

Apart from fake job offers the fraudsters were also involved in blackmailing people under the pretext of providing friendship services. The scam extended beyond job fraud with victims being manipulated into paying money.


Legal Action & Ongoing Investigation

The house where the scam was operating was reportedly rented for Rs 50,000 per month. Police have started a full-fledged investigation into the case with further arrests likely.


This case highlights the growing menace of cyber fraud in job markets. Authorities urge job seekers to verify offers thoroughly before making any payments. The police have assured strict action against such scams to protect innocent individuals from falling victim.
