Cyber fraud is rising and scammers are finding new ways to trick people. A shocking case has emerged from Navi Mumbai where a 70 year old retired government officer lost over Rs 50 crore after clicking on a fake stock investment ad on Facebook.

The Beginning of the Scam
- The victim was casually scrolling through Facebook when he came across an investment ad promising high returns.
- The ad looked authentic and he entered his details without much thought.
- Soon after, he was contacted by scammers posing as financial advisors.
How the Fraud Worked
- The victim was convinced to invest in a fraudulent trading app.
- Initially, he was allowed to withdraw small amounts which built his trust.
- Over time, he transferred around Rs 47 crore from his and his wife’s Demat accounts.
- His account balance showed Rs 122 crore in profit but when he tried to withdraw, his account was blocked.

- After multiple failed withdrawal attempts, he realised he was scammed.
- He immediately reported the fraud to the police.
