In a shocking incident happened in Narendrapur, West Bengal a woman who's named is Tanuja Mondal, she confessed to killing her 8 year old son Devjit in a fit of rage. The tragedy unfolded on Saturday in the Khayadah - Maulihati area when Tanuja, frustrated by her son's behaviour, allegedly strangled him with a scarf. After committing the crime she surrendered to the police.

Details & Context

Tanuja Mondal reportedly admitted to the crime while speaking to the media during a health check up at the Sonarpur Rural Hospital on Sunday. She claimed she was overcome with anger when her son repeatedly disturbed her. The police have confirmed that Tanuja will be presented in court while an autopsy of the child’s body is also scheduled.

This tragic event took a darker turn when it was revealed that Tanuja’s younger son had died under suspicious circumstances around two years ago. Locals allege that Tanuja may have been responsible for that death as well.

The Incident

On Saturday morning Tanuja’s husband Prosenjit left for work leaving their two sons Devjit and an elder son with her. Following the crime Tanuja left her son’s lifeless body at home and went to the police station to surrender. Initially she visited the Sonarpur Police Station before being directed to the Narendrapur Police Station where she officially turned herself in.

Later when Tanuja’s mother in law arrived home and couldn’t find Devjit she alerted the neighbours. The child’s lifeless body was discovered on the bed partially covered with a blanket and a scarf still tied around his neck.

Community Outrage

The incident caused a massive uproar in the neighbourhood. When police brought Tanuja back to the area for investigation locals tried to attack her accusing her of also being responsible for her younger son’s death. The police had to use force to control the enraged crowd and secure Tanuja’s safety.

Background Allegations

According to some neighbours Tanuja’s second son had died mysteriously 18 months ago raising suspicions about her involvement in that case too.

This tragic case has left the community in shock with many questioning the mental state of a mother who could commit such heinous acts. The police investigation is ongoing and Tanuja’s confession has opened the door to further scrutiny into her past actions.
