A university classroom turned into an unexpected wedding venue when a first year student applied sindoor to his department head. The event complete with garland exchange and traditional wedding rituals has gone viral on social media. The professor involved claims it was part of a project but authorities have launched an investigation and placed her on leave.

Context

The unusual incident took place at Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology in Haringhata, Nadia. The woman in question is the head of the Applied Psychology department while the student is a newcomer to the university. A video capturing the event has sparked widespread debate, especially after a document surfaced, allegedly signed by three witnesses, confirming their union as husband and wife.

Amidst growing controversy the professor has stated that the classroom wedding was merely a part of a project and not a real ceremony. However, the university administration has taken swift action, sending her on leave while a departmental inquiry is underway.
