Cold to Make a Comeback Over the Weekend

Since Saraswati Puja temperatures have been fluctuating signalling the gradual departure of winter. On Wednesday Kolkata was wrapped in a dense fog blanket. Although the winter chill is fading the season's essence remains. According to the weather department temperature variations will continue across South Bengal with a rise in temperatures starting Wednesday.

For the next two days sunshine will remain scarce and the sky will be partly cloudy. However from Friday onwards clear skies will return. By Sunday temperatures are expected to drop by three to four degrees Celsius, leading to a colder weekend.

Heavy Fog Alert for North Bengal

North Bengal will experience more intense cold along with dense fog on Thursday. The weather office has issued a warning for thick fog in Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar and North Dinajpur where visibility may drop to just 50 meters. In South Bengal, seven districts including Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, North and South Dinajpur, East and West Midnapore will witness heavy fog conditions on Thursday.
