Bollywood superstar Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja once a picture of marital bliss are now caught in a web of divorce rumours. After 37 years of marriage their relationship appears to be at a breaking point. Reports claim that Sunita recently sent a legal divorce notice to Govinda, fuelling speculations about their troubled bond.

The Unsteady Marriage of Govinda and Sunita

The couple’s marital journey has never been entirely smooth. From secret engagements to Govinda’s alleged affairs their relationship has faced numerous storms. Over the past few months whispers about their rocky marriage have only grown louder. Sunita’s recent remarks about feeling lonely and celebrating her birthdays alone for the last 12 years have added more fuel to the fire. 

Govinda’s Past Alleged Affairs

One of the most talked-about controversies was Govinda’s close relationship with 90s actress Neelam Kothari. The two worked together in multiple hit films and their on-screen chemistry sparked real-life romance rumours. Interestingly Govinda was already engaged to Sunita at the time but kept it hidden from Neelam.

In an old Stardust interview Govinda openly praised Neelam, saying,

“She is a woman who can win any man’s heart. The more I knew her the more I liked her.”

Govinda even admitted that his admiration for Neelam caused friction with Sunita.

“I used to tell Sunita to be like Neelam. She was hurt and would accuse me of being in love with Neelam” he confessed.

Love Interests Beyond Neelam

Neelam wasn’t the only actress linked to Govinda. His name was also associated with Divya Bharti and he didn’t shy away from admitting his attraction to her.“I find Divya very attractive. Any man would struggle to control himself around her” Govinda once said. He even hinted at the possibility of a second marriage, adding, “Sunita should be prepared, my horoscope shows signs of a second marriage.”

Later, Govinda’s growing closeness with Rani Mukerji during a film shoot abroad stirred further controversies. Reports claimed Govinda gifted Rani an apartment and a car which led to a major fallout between him and Sunita.

Sunita’s Recent Comments and Divorce Notice

Recently, on Valentine's Day Sunita made a cryptic remark, saying, “Sir (Govinda) is with his Valentine.” Although she quickly clarified that she meant his work, her statement raised eyebrows.

Sunita also spoke about feeling lonely and hinted at a third person entering their marriage. “When a third person comes into a relationship, there's little you can do” she said.

According to reports, Sunita sent a divorce notice to Govinda a few months ago, though legal proceedings haven’t progressed since. Govinda’s lawyer acknowledged hearing about the notice but mentioned they haven't received it officially yet.

Despite the turmoil, Govinda remains focused on his work and his nephew Krushna Abhishek expressed hope that the couple would resolve their issues.

The long-standing marriage of Govinda and Sunita seems to be at a critical juncture. While rumours swirl and emotional confessions surface, fans are left wondering if this iconic Bollywood couple can weather the storm once again.
