Former Advisor of Bangladesh A.F. Hasan Arif Passed Away at the age of 83

Bangladesh: Late A.F. Hasan Arif, he was an advisor to the interim government and a prominent lawyer of Bangladesh passed away on this Friday (December 20th), at the age of 83 (Innalillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Raji'un). He was suffered a cardiac arrest and taken to the Lab Aid Hospital, where he was dead at the time today 3:35 PM.

 

Hospital Confirms Death: This news was confirmed by the relations officer of Lab Aid Hospital Chowdhury Meher E Khuda. He said Hasan Arif experienced a cardiac arrest in the afternoon and admit to the hospital, but we could not be saved him.

 

Government Official’s Statement: According to the Bangladesh Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Mahbubur Rahman, the former advisor dead by heart failure shortly after arriving at the hospital. Arrangements for his funeral and burial will be announced as soon.

 

Career: A.F. Hasan Arif was appointed as an advisor to the Bangladesh Interim Government in the year of 2007 with responsibilities for Law, Justice, Parliamentary Affairs, Land, and Religious Ministries. His notable contributions to the country included promoting foreign investments, arbitration in commercial disputes, and offering legal guidance on constitutional law and corporate taxation. 

 

Earlier, he was served as the Attorney General of Bangladesh from 2001 to April 28, 2005, gaining comprehensive respect for his legal acumen.

 

Early Life and Education: He was born in 1941 in Kolkata, in the undivided India. Hasan Arif completed his schooling at St. Xavier's College in Kolkata. Later he was earned his bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Calcutta. 

 

Legal Career Highlights: He was began his legal journey in year 1967 at the Kolkata High Court before moving to Dhaka, where he join Bangladesh High Court for practice. Over the years, his expertise spanned in various fields, including banking sector, finance, corporate law, and arbitration.
