Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that Israel and US President Donald Trump have a shared vision for Gaza’s future. After meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Jerusalem Netanyahu confirmed that both leaders agree on how to handle the ongoing situation in the Palestinian territory.
Key Discussions on Gaza’s Future
Netanyahu and Rubio discussed Trump’s plan for Gaza which includes controlling the region and making major changes to its governance. The meeting comes amid a fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas following 15 months of conflict.
Rubio arrived in Tel Aviv and is scheduled to meet Israeli officials to discuss,
- The next steps for Gaza’s administration
- The release of hostages
- Plans for a long-term ceasefire
US Support for Israel’s Decisions
Netanyahu recently visited Washington and met with Trump, who assured him of full US support. On Truth Social, Trump posted
- “Israel will now have to decide what they will do. The United States will back the decision they make...!”
Ceasefire & Hostage Exchange
Hours before Rubio’s arrival Hamas released three Israeli hostages in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners. This marked the sixth swap under the ongoing ceasefire deal.
Meanwhile Israel’s Defence Ministry confirmed that a shipment of heavy aerial bombs from the US had arrived. These MK-84 munitions, recently authorised by Trump will support Israel’s military operations if the ceasefire collapses.
Uncertain Future of the Ceasefire
The current truce has been shaky and Netanyahu credited Trump’s strong stance for ensuring the latest hostage release. However discussions are still ongoing for the second phase of the ceasefire which could lead to,
- The release of more hostages
- A longer peace agreement
- A resolution on Gaza’s governance
Mediators hope to begin talks on this phase next week in Doha.

Controversial Proposals for Gaza
Trump has proposed that Egypt and Jordan take in Gaza’s population but both countries strongly oppose this idea. The US has warned that if they reject the plan they could face consequences.
Rubio defended Trump’s approach, saying
- “Right now, the only plan - whether they like it or not - is the Trump plan. If they have a better idea now is the time to present it.”
The future of Gaza remains uncertain as Israel and the US push forward with their strategy. With the ceasefire still fragile all eyes are on the upcoming negotiations to determine the next steps for the region.
