A shocking incident took place in South Kolkata where a young female lawyer was attacked in broad daylight over a parking dispute. The incident occurred near Charu Market police station, where the lawyer was allegedly assaulted and threatened with murder and rape for protesting against illegal parking outside her office.

According to the victim, the confrontation began when she objected to unauthorised parking near her chamber. A group of local youths got into an argument with her which quickly escalated. She alleges that they not only assaulted her but also hurled abuses and issued life-threatening warnings.

Counterclaims by the Accused

On the other hand the accused have a different version of the incident. They claim that they were the ones attacked and that the lawyer's father who is allegedly a property developer has been constructing illegal buildings in the area. They argue that their opposition to these unauthorised constructions led to the attack.

Police Action & Investigation

The situation turned tense in the locality, prompting the Charu Market police to intervene and control the chaos. Both parties have filed complaints and an investigation is underway to determine the truth behind the altercation.

In a separate incident, the body of a police officer Gopal Kumar was found with a gunshot wound inside the City Civil Court near Strand Road. He was assigned as a bodyguard to Judge Chandrani Mukhopadhyay.

Police Investigation

Initial investigations suggest that he may have died by suicide using his service revolver. His body was discovered seated near a staircase with a bullet wound on his forehead and a 9mm pistol lying beside him. Forensic teams, fingerprint experts and the detective department have been deployed to examine CCTV footage and verify if foul play was involved.

Both incidents highlight rising tensions in Kolkata with law enforcement now actively investigating to ensure justice is served.
