Indian Railways Operate Almost 13 Thousand Special Trains for Mahakumbh 2025

To accommodate millions of passengers attending to the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, Now Indian Railways has already announced to plans to operate 13 thousands of trains including 3 thousand special services. The grand event set to begin on January 13th 2025 will witness pilgrims gathering at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati rivers.
Details and Context
Indian Railways will deploy 560 trains along the Ring Rail Route and add 3 thousands special trains to its regular fleet of 10 thousands services during the event. Tickets for these services will be available at nine stations, Including Prayagraj Junction, Naini, Subedarganj and others. Advanced ticket booking options will allow to be reserved up to 15 days in advance.
Facilities for the Passengers
Accommodation and Hygiene: Over 1.6 lakh tents and one lakh toilets have been set up to accommodate the influx of visitors. A dedicated team of 15 thousands sanitation workers will ensure cleanliness.
Healthcare: Medical facilities include oxygen cylinders, ECG machines, Nebulisers and six bed observation rooms at key points.
Water Supply: To meet the demand 1,250 kilometres of pipeline have been laid.
Security Measures: To ensure safety more than 18 thousand personnel from the Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) and State Reserve Police (SRP) will be deployed. Additionally 1,186 AI enabled CCTV cameras will monitor Prayagraj Junction and surrounding areas.

Enhanced Infrastructure
Nine permanent ghats, seven riverfront roads and 12 kilometres of temporary ghats are under development work.
Seven new bus terminals are being constructed to manage road traffic and easy to transport communication.
Solar and LED lighting systems will illuminate vast areas, ensuring an eco friendly approach.
