In a heart wrenching incident from Brazil a 16 year old young goalkeeper Edson Lopez Gama collapsed during a training session after saving a penalty. Despite immediate efforts to save him the young talent could not survive, he leaving his family and the football community in mourning.

Edson Lopez Gama a promising young goalkeeper from Manaus, Brazil was undergoing penalty saving practice on a local field when tragedy struck. A powerful shot hit him in his chest causing severe pain. Gama managed to block the shot with remarkable skill but collapsed moments later clutching his chest in agony.

Delayed Medical Assistance

According to reports by ‘The Sun’ Gama was transported to the nearest hospital but the journey took 11 hours due to the remote location of the training ground. Despite their best efforts doctors declared him dead upon arrival. Medical experts believe the blow to his sternum and diaphragm caused fatal internal injuries.

Family's Heart breaking Tribute

Gama’s family bid him farewell by dressing his body in the jersey of his favourite football team Gremio. His brother Eliomar shared an emotional post on social media saying, “Today you touched the hearts of all of Brazil. I never imagined this would happen. You were a dedicated player and a cheerful child. We are devastated but you left doing what you loved most—playing football.”
